Layla Desjardin recorded six kills, four aces and eight assists as the Neelin Spartans swept the Crocus Plainsmen 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-22) in the Brandon High School Volleyball League varsity girls’ semifinal at Neelin on Tuesday.
Elli Pomehichuk tacked on six kills and five aces, with Izzy Didych recording a match-high seven kills for Neelin.
In the JV girls semifinal at Vincent Massey, Elli Creaser posted eight kills and two aces in Massey’s 3-0 (25-4, 25-21, 25-14) sweep of Crocus in their semifinal.
Taylor Paton and Sadie Moose each had five kills for Massey, with Brooklyn Johnson recording 10 kills for Crocus.
The best-of-three city final series start next Tuesday. Since both feature the Vikings and Spartans, the home court for Matches 1 and 2 may potentially flip, allowing both matches to be played in the same gym.
The boys’ semifinals are today. Neelin hosts Crocus in the JV match at 6 p.m., and the Plainsmen visit the Vikings in the varsity match at 7:30 p.m.
