• 40 YEARS AGO — Mark Vandepoele scored with three and a half minutes remaining to lift Ste. Rose Royals to a 5-4 victory over Souris Elks in SouthWest Hockey League action.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Defenceman Justin Kurtz scored once and added three assists as the Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors 8-2. Peter Schaefer and Wade Redden both scored two goals while Vinnie Jonasson, Cory Cyrenne and Mike Leclerc added singles.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Matt Morrissette scored twice to lead the Vincent Massey Vikings on a 7-2 romp over the Neepawa Tigers in a Westman High School Hockey League game at the Keystone Centre. Curtis Desmarce, Marty Minshull, Paul Marcoux, Derek Hamm and Cam Spiers also scored for the Vikings.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Neelin varsity girls fell to Morden in the quarter-finals of the AAA girls volleyball provincials in Swan River. Savannah Doucette had 11 kills and four aces and Madison Hayden had six kills against Morden in Neelin’s 2-0 (25-22, 26-24) loss.
