IN LOCAL HISTORY

• 40 YEARS AGO — Graham Freeman and his Virden foursome of Robin Hanson, Dallas Clarke and Brad Hayward claimed top spot in the first event at the Brandon High School Invitational bonspiel.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Richard Dane had three goals and three assists to lead the Vincent Massey Vikings to an 11-4 triumph over the Hamiota Huskies in Westman High School Hockey League action. Nolan Klassen added two goals for the Vikings.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Brandonites Joey Moggach and Joel Malchuk helped the Dauphin Kings build up a big lead on their way to a 6-3 victory over the Neepawa Natives in Manitoba Junior Hockey League action at Brandon’s Keystone Centre. Moggach had a goal and two assists.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Dion Hapa came off the bench to score 22 points for the Neelin Spartans in a dominant 90-38 win over the Vincent Massey Vikings’ junior varsity team in the opening game of the 12th annual Brandon Sun Spartan Invitational high school basketball tournament.
