• 40 YEARS AGO — Ron Nemetchek was perfect in goal as the Souris Elks blanked the Melita Bisons 3-0 in a South West Hockey League game. While Nemetchek was shutting the door on the Bisons, Les Charles, Bryan Webber and Frank Lang were scoring for the Elks.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Bryce Couling scored the game-winner early in the third period to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 5-3 triumph over the Eastman Selects in Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League action. Shane Baranyk, Jared Jacobson, Chad Laluk and Bob Faktor added singles for Brandon.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Neepawa slipped to 7-27-2-2 with its 6-3 loss to the Dauphin Kings at the Keystone Centre, leaving the Natives in fifth place in the Sherwood Division, 14 points behind the fourth-place Portage Terriers.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Dauphin Kings gave interim head coach Marc Berry his first win since taking over from the departed Marlin Murray, defeating the Winkler Flyers 4-2 in Dauphin in Manitoba Junior Hockey League Action.
