Brent Solomon scored twice as the United States beat Canada West in the final at the Junior A World Challenge on Saturday in Trois-Rivières, Que.
Canada West, which included Brandonites Colten Worthington of the Virden Oil Capitals and Ethan Stewart of the Dauphin Kings, beat Canada East 2-0 in the semifinals on Friday to book its spot in the final. It was the team’s only victory after they were winless in the round-robin at the four-team event.
Sweden beat Canada East 5-1 to earn bronze.
