• 40 YEARS AGO — Brandon Eagles Gymnastics Club athletes John Sowiak and Bobby Keeper won the argo and cadet titles respectively at the boys’ provincial gymnastics championship in Brandon, while Peter Mitchell was second in argo.

• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings downed the Moose Jaw Warriors 7-5 in WHL action. Peter Schaefer score twice for Brandon with Ryan Robson, Bobby Brown, Cory Cyrenne, Mike Leclerc and Burke Henry adding singles.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Sanfred King and Matthew Calvert combined for 10 points in a big night for the Brandon Midget AAA Wheat Kings. King scored two goals and added three assists, while Calvert scored once and assisted on four others to lead the Wheat Kings to an 8-2 triumph over the Eastman Selects in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Terry McNamee finished in first place in the Westman Super League of Curling with a 9-2 record after defeating Kelly McMechan 6-2 at the Brandon Curling Club.
