• 60 YEARS AGO — The Waskada Comets walloped the Boissevain Border Kings 12-3 in a Southwest Hockey League game. Bob Payne paced the Comets to their win with a four-goal effort while Jim Spence added three.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Herman Dyck’s three goals propelled the Boissevain Border Kings to a 7-6 SouthWest Hockey League victory over the Pierson Bruins.
• 40 YEARS AGO — In a NorthCentral League game in Brandon, the Angusville Flyers dumped the Juvenile Wheat Kings 7- 4. Glen Katchin led the Flyer attack with a hat trick while Dale Sidoryk scored twice.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Carmen Hurd poured in 25 points to lead the Vincent Massey Vikings to a 71-55 triumph over the Neelin Spartans in varsity girls action in Westman High School Basketball League play. Vicki North added 11 points for the Vikings.
• 20 YEARS AGO — A two-goal performance by Kyle Grier paced the Crocus Plainsmen in a 5-2 Westman High School Hockey League victory over the Rivers/Elton Rage at the Keystone Centre.
• 10 YEARS AGO — On a Western Hockey League trade deadline day devoid of blockbusters, the Brandon Wheat Kings added a 17-year-old forward. The Wheat Kings sent a conditional 2016 sixth-round WHL bantam draft choice to the Everett Silvertips for Jaeger White, a forward from Medicine Hat.
