• 60 YEARS AGO — Lorne Judd had a triple score of 707 at the Thunderbird Bowl. Judd rolled single games of 269, 223 and 215 to accomplish his feat. Only one other series over 700 has been recorded in league play since the opening of the Thunderbird.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Vic Blandford, Bob Larabie and Gary Easter scored for Derksen Plumbing and Heating in a 3-1 win over Shilo Gunners in Manitoba Broomball Association play.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Brad Wells scored five goals and assisted two others as Neepawa Natives blitzed the visiting Hamiota Huskies 10-1 in a SouthWest Hockey League game.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Neelin’s Graeme Hamilton tossed in 16 points and Cory Hodgson added 15 more as the Spartans beat the Kildonan East Reivers 64-58 at the Vincent Massey Pizza Hut Classic varsity boys high school basketball tournament.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Eric Fehr’s terrific first season of pro hockey just keeps getting better. The 20-year-old Winkler native and graduate of the Brandon Wheat Kings, named the 2005 Krug Crawford Memorial Medal winner by the Brandon Sun after being named the WHL’s player of the year and leading the league in scoring, was selected for the Canadian team in the 2006 AHL all-star game on Feb. 1 at Winnipeg’s MTS Centre.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Jamie Sherritt has been named the Manitoba High Schools Athletic Association’s rural athlete of the week after leading the Souris Sabres basketball team to a pair of tournament titles.
