• 50 YEARS AGO — Susan Heaman scored two goals, including the winner, in leading Brandon Blazing Hawks to a 5-4 win over Goodlands in Westman Girls Hockey League play at the UCT Arena. However, later in the game she suffered a broken arm.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Jill Bednorski scored 21 points and Lisa Patterson added 13 to lead the Crocus Plainsmen junior varsity girls in their 43-38 Brandon High School Basketball League victory over Neelin Spartans.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Cory Cyrenne and Bobby Brown both scored twice for the Brandon Wheat Kings as they hammered the Prince Albert Raiders 5-1 in WHL action. Kelly Smart added a single.
• 10 YEARS AGO — A trio of Westman players have been named to the long roster for the Canadian senior women’s rugby team. Brandonite Amanda Thornborough as well as Souris products Emily Tuttosi and Amanda Williams are among the 79 players who were announced to be on the roster.
