• 60 YEARS AGO — Garth Seafoot of Nesbitt knocked over Ross Kinsley’s rink of Minto and Brian Moffatt’s foursome of Souris to become the only undefeated rink of the Souris Men’s Bonspiel.

• 50 YEARS AGO — Charlie Cyr, Bob Mazur and Doug Fowler all scored two goals a piece pacing Russell Rams to a 6-2 SouthWest Hockey League win over Neepawa Natives.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Don Granger and his Brandon rink of third Kevin Cooley, second; Cory Chegwyn and lead Brad Dixon scored one on an extra end to unseat two-time champion Brad Edwards of Deloraine in the final of the Elanco Young Men’s Super League of curling.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Karla Dale tossed in a game-high 28 points to lead the visiting Hamiota Huskies to a 64-57 triumph over the Vincent Massey Vikings in junior varsity girls’ Westman High School Basketball League action.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Ashley Robertson’s goal with 2:30 remaining in the third period lifted the Souris Elks to a 5-5 tie with the Boissevain Border Kings in the SouthWest Hockey League.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Brandon University Bobcats women’s volleyball team scored its biggest victory of the season, upsetting the UBC Thunderbirds, who are ranked fifth in the nation, 3-1 (16-25, 25-17, 27-25, 25-22) in Vancouver. The Bobcats (6-9) were led by fifth-year left side Shanlee McLennan’s 12-kill, 10-dig effort.
