Carly Thomson of the Brandon Bobcats has been named Canada West’s player of the week in women’s volleyball after her team split with the fifth-ranked Trinity Western Spartans on the weekend.
In Friday’s 3-1 victory, Thomson had six kills, a .357 hitting percentage, 28 assists, two aces, three blocks and 12 digs.
While Brandon fell 3-0 the next night, the five-foot-nine Thomson, a senior setter from Grand Prairie, Alta., had five kills, no errors, a .714 hitting percentage, 25 assists and nine digs.
The Bobcats entertain the visiting Regina Cougars at the Healthy Living Centre this weekend.
