• 60 YEARS AGO — Carl Dennison scored three goals to lead Cardale past Minnedosa Chieftans 7-4 in a SouthWest Hockey League game.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Jack Fraser and his Glenboro rink of sons Scott and Blaine and Gerald Rutherford, defeated clubmate Wes Brown in the final of the E.B. Jackson event in the 76th annual Wawanesa bonspiel.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Kelly Bessette recorded a shutout in Shilo and District Men’s Broomball League action at Shilo. The Keystone Motor Inn Outlaws scored a 4-0 victory over Exhibition Bandits when Jeff Mortenson scored three times to lead the Outlaws.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Kristi Clark hit two three-pointers and went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line to lead the Brandon University Bobcats to a 65- 62 victory over the Winnipeg Wesmen in Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s basketball play.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Mitch Olson fired the game winner with 3:38 remaining to lift the Southwest Cougars to a 5-4 victory over the Parkland Rangers in a Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League game in Souris for their eighth win in a road.
• 10 YEARS AGO — There are two Vincent Massey High School products on the Brandon University men’s volleyball team. Cole Tokaryk will make three. The Grade 12 student officially signed his Canadian Interuniversity Sport letter of intent and will join fellow Vikings alumni Daven Pascal and Seth Friesen on the BU roster next season.
