• 40 YEARS AGO — Mike Archibald scored twice to pace the Southwest Cougars to a 6-2 victory over the Norman Stars in a Rural Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League playoff game. Rodney Moffett, Jeff Smart, Tim Hutchins and Todd Tilbury also scored for the Cougars.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Dean English turned aside 23 shots for his second consecutive shutout as the Killarney Shamrocks blanked the Cartwright Clippers 3-0 in Tiger Hills Hockey League playoff action. Tyler Shiels, Glen Bentz and Les Keys handled the scoring for Killarney.

• 20 YEARS AGO — The Major Pratt Trojans won the Westman High School Hockey League championship after slipping past the Killarney/Wawanesa Raiders 2-1 in the league final. Brett Radford and Cole Cusitar scored for the Trojans, and Breck Tripp replied for the Raiders.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Waywayseecappo Wolverines and Dauphin Kings were eliminated from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League playoffs after losing their best-of-three series 2-0.
