Goaltender Hunter Gregory turned aside all 24 shots sent his way as the Vincent Massey Vikings leaped to a 5-0 victory against the Dauphin Clippers in Game 1 of their Westman High School Hockey League best-of-three championship duel at the Sportsplex on Wednesday evening.
Vikings forwards Joe Balabanski, Addax Egan, Cole Adams, Ethen Church, and Jett Aitken all hit the back of the net to give their club a 1-0 series lead against the Clippers, who trailed 2-0 after the first period and 4-0 after 40.
Ben Miner made 35 saves for Dauphin, who now must win two in a row if they want to be crowned the WHSHL champions.
Game 2 was held in Dauphin last night, but the game ended after deadline.
