• 40 YEARS AGO — Brandon University Bobcats’ Tim Lenardon was named to the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union all-star hockey team. Lenardon was also named hockey player of the year in the Canada West conference.

• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Saskatoon Blades 3-2 in the opening game of their East-Central quarter-final. Scoring for Brandon was Chris Dingman, Dorian Anneck and Cory Cyrenne.

• 20 YEARS AGO — The Dauphin Kings scored a pair of power-play goals on their way to a 2-0 win in Game 3 of their Manitoba Junior Hockey League divisional final series at OCN. Cory Baldwin and Brandon’s Joey Maggach hit the back of the net for Dauphin, while Marc Lesage earned the shutout.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Dylan Thiessen scored one goal and set up two others as the Virden Oil Capitals forced a seventh game in their Manitoba Junior Hockey League quarter-final series with the Winnipeg Blues. Tanner Lewis of Brandon and Dean Schram both added a goal and an assist as the Oil Caps earned a 5-2 victory in Game 6 in Winnipeg. Drake Bodie and Kyle Salaway supplied the other markers, while Sean Kuehn stopped 22 shots.
