Not bad for a hockey player.
Ivy Perkin accomplished the unfathomable in her final weekend of high school basketball.
The University of Regina hockey commit averaged a quadruple double at varsity AA girls hoops provincials in Warren, leading the Souris Sabres to gold with a 62-52 victory over the Glenboro-Carberry-Baldur Panthers on Saturday.

“It was absolutely unbelievable. It was so close the entire final game, to win it in the end felt amazing,” said Perkin, who averaged 27.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 11 assists, and 14 steals in three games.
“I wasn’t really thinking, I was just playing basketball. I’ve been training all year for this; I had the confidence, and I just took off.
“I was trying to treat it like a normal game, but obviously, it’s in the back of your mind, this is the last game, the last chance to win the championship. I tried to play my best I could.”
Naturally, Perkin was named tournament MVP, but as she reflects on her final weekend as a Sabre, what stands out is how many of her teammates stepped up.
“Blaire Laursen and Mallory Van De Kerckhove had to guard the other team’s best player, Charlie Unrau, and they did a great job,” Perkin said.
“Rylie Edmunds had to guard their big post player and she did a great job of boxing her out and being physical all game long… Tessa Penner came up big with her shots.”
Laursen and Penner were named to the all-star team, along with Unrau and Torah Robidoux of the Panthers, who gave the Sabres a terrific fight.
Souris steamrolled Rosenort 85-32 and Warren 114-40 to reach the final, while GCB knocked off Westpark 65-56 and Immanuel Christian 68-43.
The final was anyone’s game until the final frame.
The Panthers led 16-13 after the first quarter, and stayed up halfway through the second before Perkin nailed a three-pointer to go up 22-20.
The Sabres stayed up 25-23 at halftime.

Glenboro came out of the break strong, retaking the lead and stretching it to five. Souris hung around and narrowed the gap to 41-40 heading to the fourth.
The Panthers went up three, then Perkin erased the deficit with a three-point play, sparking a 14-0 run, including eight points of her own.
Souris extended its lead to 15 and was able to salt the game away.
“We gave it our all the entire game, even our bench was absolutely electric the entire game, which was good to see,” Perkins said.
“We’ve been working so hard all year and for a few years. I know quite a few of the girls have started playing spring basketball, which has helped their game a lot.
“It was everybody’s dream to win the championship and we finally got to do it with this group.”
