Adam Vigfusson found twine twice, while Evan Panzer and Dawson Zeller added singles as the Niverville Nighthawks scored four unanswered goals to squeeze out a 4-2 victory over the Waywayseecappo Wolverines in Game 3 and take a 2-1 series lead at Niverville Community Resource & Recreation Centre on Monday evening.
Wayway got off to a hot start thanks to goals from Onanole’s Max Collyer and Rivers’ Ben Roulette, who put them up 2-0 with five minutes left in the first period before Vigfusson brought his team within one after 20 and then added another late in the second to tie the game at twos headed into the final frame.
Niverville’s Calyb Moore set up Panzer for the game winner 11:03 into the third and then Zeller potted his third of the post-season into the empty net with one second left.
Wolverines netminder Jase Wareham posted 24 saves in his team’s loss, while Austin Dubinsky stopped 21 shots for his sixth win of the playoffs.
Game 4 is this evening at Waywayseecappo Arena Complex at 7:30 p.m.
