The Brandon Bobcats men’s volleyball team has been named team of the year by Sport Manitoba’s Night of Champions.
The Bobcats captured the program’s first U Sports national men’s volleyball championship as the host team, defeating the Winnipeg Wesmen, Saskatchewan Huskies and Alberta Golden Bears en route to the title.
The other winners are:
• Konica Minolta Official of the Year: Zdravka Tchonkova, rhythmic gymnastics, Winnipeg.
• 2017 Canada Games Legacy Fund Volunteer of the Year: Colin Mark, basketball, Winnipeg.
• Coach of the Year: Tammy De Jong, baton twirling, Winnipeg.
• SBC Insurance Athlete of the Year: Darcy Furber, blind golf, Winnipeg.
The Night of Champions, an invitation-only celebration, is set for next Thursday in Winnipeg.
