• 60 YEARS AGO — Jim Williamson and his Country club crew of Ann Fedoruk, Bryan Wood and Audrey Williamson captured top honours in the club’s spring mixed bonspiel by defeating clubmate Bill Adams.

• 40 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings scored a 6-1 win in the deciding game of their best-of-three series against Roblin Park Raiders and claimed provincial Tier II atom hockey championships. Darcy Backman led the winners with three goals while Shane Johnson, Craig Kinney and Chris Johnston added singles.

• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings defeated the Prince Albert Raiders 4-2 and took a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven WHL East- Central Division series. Justin Kurtz, Peter Schaefer, Wade Redden and Cory Cyrenne scored for Brandon.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Chad Yanchycki scored two goals and added two assists to lead Brandon to a 7-4 triumph over Yellowhead in an exhibition ban- tam hockey game at the Sportsplex. Jesse Roziere also scored twice for Brandon, which got singles from Brock Sutherland, Blair Osiowy and Derek Ginnell.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Overage forward Tim McGauley recorded his first career post-season hat trick to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings back to the Eastern Conference final. They beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 7-3 in Game 5 of their best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinal at Westman Place to take the best-of-seven Western Hockey League series 4-1.
