• 40 YEARS AGO — Sails and the German Royals played to a 1-1 draw in a Brandon Senior Soccer League game. Jim Harvey scored for Sails. Huber Amedick replied for the Royals.

• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings bombed the Spokane Chiefs 9-5 to take a 2-1 series lead in the league final. Scoring for the Wheaties were Bobby Brown and Wade Redden with two each, Dorian Anneck, Peter Schaefer, Mike Leclerc, Stefan Cherneski and Ryan Robson with singles.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Brandon claimed a volleyball women’s 20-and-under Tier 1 Canadian Open championship led by MVP Ashley Creighton after knocking off Langley, B.C.’s Trinity Western club team 27-25, 25-16 in the final.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Nolan Patrick scored his second career hat trick and added two assists as the Wheat Kings beat the Red Deer Rebels 5-2 at Westman Place and won the Eastern Conference crown for the second year in a row. The Wheat Kings beat the Rebels 4-1 in the best-of-seven conference final.
