Mackenzie Skelton and Ryan Vandenburghe both had a pair of hits as Deloraine/Hartney/Pierson/Waskada beat the Vincent Massey Vikings 7-6 on the opening day of Prairie West Baseball League action on Sunday in Deloraine.
Tyler Drummond earned the win, striking out four in three innings and allowing two hits.
Madden Cheung took the loss, allowing two earned runs in six innings of relief. Cole Lobreau had a pair of hits for the Vikings.
NEELIN 11, KILLARNEY 10
At Sumner Field in Brandon, Jackson Burgess earned the win, allowing five runs in five innings and 105 pitches.
RESTON 10, MASSEY 8
In Reston, Slater Anderson allowed one earned run over four innings while striking out four for the hosts.
Jamie Williamson hit a three-run homer for Reston and Tye Hamel went 2-for-3.
Ryan Rennie had two hits, two RBI and two runs scored for Massey, and Cash Hunter had hits in both of his at-bats. Hunter took the loss, allowing five runs in two innings.
RESTON 13, CROCUS 1
In Reston, Kaden Revet threw three scoreless innings and struck out six for Reston, while Hamel went 4-for-4 at the plate and scored twice.
Peysen Kliever also had a pair of hits, two runs scored and one RBI.
Brady Reid allowed nine runs in four innings in taking the loss. Noah Asmead had the lone hit for the Plainsmen and Gabriel Manzano drove in the lone run.
DELORAINE 14, CROCUS 4
In Deloraine, Aiden Morgan struck out six in four innings to earn the victory, and Vandenburghe had a pair of hits for the hosts.
Noah Ashmead took the loss, with Kane Kowalchuk stroking a pair of singles for the Plainsmen.
VIRDEN 14, KILLARNEY 4
In Virden, Brodie Cameron struck out five in five innings without giving up an earned run as he was credited with the win.
Liam Banga went 2-for-2 with three RBI and a run scored for the hosts, while Eric Berger was 3-for-4 with four runs batted in and two runs scored.
Kris Kummer took the loss but also had an RBI, and Jordan Svaboda drove in a pair of runs for Killarney.
BIRTLE 27, EBB AND FLOW 1
In Miniota, Birtle/Hamiota/Rossburn/Strathclair received five RBI from Burke Dunitz as he hit the cycle in going 5-for-5.
Nolan Drake drove in six runs, with both Dunitz and Drake homering. Jordan Edwards earned the win with three innings in which he struck out six and allowed no earned runs.
Carter Baptiste took the loss, with Carson Houle scoring the lone run.
RIVERS 18, SWAN VALLEY 0
In Rivers, Winston Lepp drove in three runs, scored four and threw four innings of no-hit ball with seven strikeouts to lead his club to victory.
Reid Hutchings also had three RBI and two runs scored for Rivers.
Swan River starter Nick Puchailo took the loss.
