• 60 YEARS AGO — Brandon fencers Warren MacKay and Murray Simpson placed fourth and fifth in the sabre and foil matches at the Manitoba Open fencing championships at Brandon College. They placed third and fourth in the epee match.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Bill Clark and Greg Kindrat scored for the Olympians, while Dave Bebbington and Jim Ferguson replied or the Spartans as the Brandon Senior Soccer League teams tied 2-2.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Goals by Teena Neiradka and Laura Kostecki gave Neelin a 2-0 victory over Crocus II in a Brandon High School Soccer League girls’ game. Pam Connor recorded the shutout.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Dauphin’s brand new Credit Union Place was named the next site of the provincial men’s curling championship.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Jayce Hawryluk scored the overtime winner as the Brandon Wheat Kings took a 2-0 series lead over the Seattle Thunderbirds in the Western Hockey League final.
