• 50 YEARS AGO — Individual winners in the Brandon junior high school road races boys’ category were: Darcy Ready of Earl Haig in the 12-and-under class; Kevin Conlin of Oxford in the 13-14 age group and Rod Crook of Vincent Massey in the 15-and-over division.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Terrilyn Hurl scored twice to pace Brandon Club Stray Cats to a 5-1 win over the Barbarians in a Brandon Senior Soccer League women’s game. Shelly Hartel, Donna Cullen and Stacey Corrigan added singles.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Ryan Hildebrand did the Brandon Eagles Gymnastics Club proud at the Flairs Spring Invitational at the University of Manitoba. Hildebrand, the lone member of the Brandon club in attendance, placed first in the all- around in Level 3 with a score of 44.85.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Rachelle Neilson scored two goals as the Vincent Massey Vikings beat the Crocus Plaismen 5-0 in Brandon HIgh School Soccer League action.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Reid Duke was the extra-time hero, after John Quenneville scored both Brandon goals in regulation, leading the Wheat Kings to a 3-2 victory in Game 3 of the WHL final in Kent, Wash. Brandon took a 3-0 series lead.
