50 YEARS AGO — Individual winners in the Brandon junior high school road races girls’ category were: Nancy Scott of Earl Haig in the 12-and-under group; Tracy Borotsik of Earl Oxford in the 13- 14 division and Jodee Hunter of Oxford in the 15-and-over class.

40 YEARS AGOClaude Pellerin scored three goals and Bruce Bell a pair as the Victoria Inn Titans beat Minnedosa 6-1 in Brandon Senior Men’s Soccer League action. Jamie Gorchynski notched the other Titans’ goal.

30 YEARS AGO Andrew Walker, Jody Plett, Sean Whelan, Martin Hulme, Ryan Ogilvie and Pat Magwood all scored for the host Neepawa Rangers in a 6-2 Brandon Senior Soccer League win over 4-Way Taxi Club United. Damon Hanley had both goals for United.

20 YEARS AGO Riley Vandermeulen of Forrest is one of three Westman competitors advancing to the Canadian Gymnastics Championships, along with Brandon Eagles Jenna Kerbis and Kristen Pratt-Chalmers.

10 YEARS AGO — The Seattle Thunderbirds extended the WHL final, beating the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-1 in Game 4. Jayce Hawryluk scored Brandon’s only goal.
