• 60 YEARS AGO — Central Auto Body whipped Foresters 12-6 in a Brandon and District Commercial Fastball League game. Russ Parker hurled the win. John Krahn took the loss. John Holleman belted a home run while George Smith hit a double and three singles.

• 50 YEARS AGO — Import Bruce Bremer struck out 14 Dauphin batters in seven innings as the Binscarth Orioles overwhelmed the Redbirds 13-4. A big blow in the fourth inning was a three-run home run by Billy Derlago, who had two of Binscarth’s 12 hits.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Darvin Lavallee of the Brandon Boxing Club won a unanimous decision over 1985 national silver medalist Jeff Hill of Saskatoon in a 63-kilo- gram class bout.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings fell 2-1 to the host Red Deer Rebels in overtime, ending their Memorial Cup bid in fourth place.
