Dauphin earned two more Westman High School Rugby 15s championships at home on Saturday.
In the girls’ game, the Clippers romped to a 45-0 victory over the visiting Souris Sabres, with Ryann Richard-Soltis scoring a pair of tries, and singles coming from Halie Garlinski, Mila Heschuck, Desiree Lariviere, Paityn Burgouin and Kiersten Vanderkerckhove, who also kicked five converts.
In the boys’ game, which was an all-Clippers affair, Dauphin Green beat Dauphin White 68-5.
Julien Lopez and Joshua Yakielashek both had two tries for Green, with Colton Miner, Benjamin Miner, Blake Symchych, Andriy Genik, Parker Freiheit and Alexander Thompson adding singles. Jordan Evans kicked seven converts, with Benjamin Miner and Symchych each booting one.
Rudy Oosthuizen replied for White.
The Manitoba high school rugby provincials are being held at Brandon’s John Reilly Field next weekend.
In the varsity girls’ semifinals on Friday afternoon, Souris meets Steinbach at 1 o’clock and Springfield plays Dauphin at 2:30.
In the varsity boys’ semifinals, also on Friday afternoon, Dauphin White plays St. Paul’s at 4 and St. John’s-Ravenscourt tangles with Dauphin Green at 5:30.
All the finals are on Saturday. The third-place girls’ game is at 10 a.m., with the final at 11:30.
The boys’ bronze-medal game is at 1, with the championship final at 2:30.
