The Wawanesa Brewers pushed across their first two batters to take a 2-0 lead in South West Baseball League action over the Brandon Young Guns at Andrews Fields on Saturday.

Things went down downhill from there in a hurry, as they managed just two more hits the rest of the way in a 9-2 loss.

The Young Guns got back within a run in the bottom of the first inning and took the game over with four more in the second inning.

Andrew Janz and Buddy Mayert both had a pair of hits, and Mayert scored three runs with Janz pushing across twice.

Avery Callen had two of Wawanesa’s five hits.

OAK RIVER 12, RIVERS 10

In a wild shootout in Rivers that saw the teams combine for 11 runs in the first inning alone, the Dodgers capitalized on four runs in the third inning for the win.

Ty Paddock homered, drove in two runs and scored three times for Oak Lake, while Kaden Rozdeba had four RBI on a single and a triple.

Layton Veitch and Mike McFadden both drove in a pair of runs for the Comets and Fred Hrycak scored three runs.

Dylan Schroeder went 5 2/3 innings for Oak River, allowing six hits and eight walks with seven earned runs for the win. Hrycak took the loss allowing nine runs, five of them earned, in three innings.
