• 40 YEARS AGO — Brad Ross scored a second-half goal to pull Minnedosa into a 1-1 tie with Adman Kicks in a Brandon Senior Soccer League game.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Brandon Cloverleafs pitcher/shortstop Jamie Waddell-Hodgson hit two home runs and a triple and earned a win on the mound as his squad won a pair of Manitoba Senior Baseball League games at Westbran Stadium. Waddell-Hodgson did all that despite being thrown out of the second game in the second inning.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Jen Van Den Ham scored twice while Jasmine Duthie earned the shutout to lead the Brandon United Hotshots to a 5-0 triumph over Minnedosa in Westman Rural Youth Soccer League under-18 girls division action. Janelle Tocher, Lindsay McLaughlin and Lisa Neilsen scored the other goals for Brandon United.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Austin Brereton gave up just one run in five innings and the Virden Oilers easily beat the visiting Elkhorn Expos 17-1. Zane Sawyer went 2-for-5 at the plate with three runs batted in for Virden (1-1), while Mike Stevenson led the way for the Expos (0-1). He went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Tyler Wood pitched all six innings for Elkhorn, allowing 15 earned runs in the loss.
