• 40 YEARS AGO — The Victoria Inn Titans scored a 2-0 win over Brandon Club United in a Brandon Senior Soccer League men’s game. Claude Pellerin scored one goal for the Titans while United scored an own-goal.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Tyrus Cobb scored four goals as the Minnedosa Triumph clobbered Virden 9-0 in Brandon Senior Men’s Soccer League action. Graeme Kingdon and Rob McNabb had two goals apiece while Ty Burton added a single.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Kevin Barkley drove in two runs with two singles to lead the Virden Oilers to a 9-4 victory over the Deloraine Royals in the SouthWest Baseball League. Kelsey Sunaert replied with three singles for the Royals, who managed seven hits and two walks off of winning pitcher Kyle Martel, who struck out five while giving up four runs in seven innings.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Luke Whelpton struck out six in five innings and the Canadian Tire Cardinals beat the Joe Beeverz Young Guns 6-0 in Andrew Agencies senior AA play at Andrews Field. Sean Dryden took the loss, allowing six runs in six innings.
