• 40 YEARS AGO — Garry Kroeger ripped a two-run homer to lead the Oak River Dodgers to a 13-4 victory over the Hamiota Midgets in a Yellowhead Baseball League game.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Garry Kroeger singled and doubled to lead the Waskada Orioles to a 7-6 triumph over the Boissevain Centennials in South West Baseball League action. Bob Morris hit a solo homer for the Centennials. Paul Artz earned the win. Jason Billaney took the loss.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Mike Trager doubled and singled to drive in three runs to lead the Virden Oilers to an 11-10 triumph over the Lyleton Leafs in SouthWest Baseball League action.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Town Centre Dental Westman FC under-14 boys’ soccer team beat Winnipeg South End United 3-0 in a Winnipeg Youth Soccer Association contest in Portage la Prairie. Nathan Chubaty, Max Oosterhuis and Joshua Cameron scored for Westman FC.
