• 40 YEARS AGO — Erla Cyr and Bev Isabey teamed on a one hitter as the Souris Blues downed Boissevain Motor Inn 3-1 in Brandon and District Ladies’ Fastball League play. Tracey Denbow doubled and singled.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Mike Gaber’s grand slam helped lift Kelsey’s Giants to a 29-28 win over Griff’s Athletics in Brandon Merchants Fastball League action. Greg Willms, Darwyn Ross, Craig Backsmith, Brad Lyall and Scott Preston also homered for Kelsey’s.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Justin McMechan pitched a three-hitter as the Lyleton Leafs topped the Deloraine Royals 9-3 in a SouthWest Baseball League game. McMechan struck out five batters and didn’t issue a walk in the seven-inning game.

• 10 YEARS AGO — Jaycee Castle scored four times and Mikayla Yuen added one goal to lift the Brandon Chaos to a 5-1 road win over Neepawa in Westman Women’s Senior Soccer League play. Sadie McIntish replied for Neepawa.
