• 60 YEARS AGO — Molsons upset Seven-Up 8-4 in Brandon and District Commercial Fastball League play. M. Mymko, Ray Bukaluk, Elgin Knight and Milt Phinney all had two hits for Molsons.

• 50 YEARS AGO — Led by the power-house hitting of Howard Burton, Tracy McLennan and Mark Hewins, Wheat City Concrete outscored Simplot 24-19 in an East End Peewee Brandon Minor Baseball Association game.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Don Stevenson slugged a two-run home run and Brock Curtis added a solo shot as Lenore Aces downed Kenton Cougars 6-4 in a Virden and District Fastball League game. Curtis also had two doubles in support of winning pitcher Clayton Wood.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Ryan Boguski picked up a pair of wins for the Dauphin Brewers in Yellowhead Baseball League action. Dauphin defeated the Hamiota Red Sox 2-1 before edging the Birtle Blue Jays 9-8 in the second game of the day.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Alexander McKinnon of Deloraine swung a hot bat to help the Manitoba Youth Team split at the Jamestown Legion Baseball Tournament. McKinnon combined to go 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and six RBIs as Manitoba beat Jamestown 14-2 and dropped a 6-3 decision to Mandan, N.D.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Town Centre Dental Westman FC under-14 boys’ soccer team improved to 9-1 in Winnipeg Youth Soccer League action in Portage la Prairie. Westman FC upended FC Northwest 6-1 on the strength of two goals from Dustin Strasser and one marker from each of Camilo Rodriguez, Wil Miller Harms, Joshua Budach and Cyro Oliver.
