• 60 YEARS AGO — Derek Shadlock was the top Brandon batter as ANAF Brandon whitewashed Wawanesa 20-0 in the Manitoba BB baseball playoffs. Shadlock collected two triples and a double.
• 50 YEARS AGO — In men’s Series A fastball play, Neepawa shaded Lenore 6-4 in an extra inning. Ernie Kuharski singled, Bob Richardson doubled and Gary Epp drove the final two runs home with a double.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Sara Conlin scored twice as the Hustlers humbled the Barbarians 6-0 in Brandon Senior Women’s Soccer League play. Jackie Wells, Margaret Gross, Kim Owen and Corrine Brewster added singles while Sherry Cairns had a perfect night in the net.
• 20 YEARS AGO — The Manitoba Youth Selects finished off on a winning note at the Jamestown Legion Baseball Tournament. The under-17 squad defeated Thompson, N.D., 4-3 after Andrew Lochhead of Reston came across with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
