• 60 YEARS AGO — Bill Shelvey led Central Auto Body with a singe and a double in a 16-4 trouncing against Chemico in Brandon Commercial fastball league play. Bob Jaska had a single.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Aided by the authoritative bat of Debbie Morris, Souris Blues defeated Curly MacKay’s 14-9 in a Brandon and District Ladies’ Fastball League game. Morris connected for a triple, a double and two singles.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Wendy Kilmury slammed a three-run double in the sixth inning as Boissevain Lady Cardinals edged Cosgrove Equipment 9-7 in Brandon and District Ladies Fastball League action. Kilmury also slapped a pair of singles while Julie Hintz chipped in a double and a single and Brenda Palmer added a triple.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Shane Moffatt, the Brandon Cloverleafs’ all-star hammered a two-run home run and pitched four innings of hitless relief to lead the MSBL all-stars to an entertaining 8-5 triumph over Brandon’s Prairie League of Professional Baseball club before an enthusiastic crowd of 457 at Westbran Stadium.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Marcus Kobylka was a hitting machine, helping Brandon Paddock Drilling to a 2-0 record at the provincial bantam A baseball championship. Kobylka went 3-for-3 with a triple as Brandon knocked off the Grunthal Generals 10-4.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Jeff Wiebe struck out seven to earn the victory as the Marlins beat the Rivers Comets 3-2 in the Andrew Agencies Senior AA Baseball League.
