The Westman Magic improved to 4-0 during the second day of Softball Manitoba’s under-13 AAA provincial championship in Crystal City on Friday.
In their first game against the third-place Winnipeg Lightning (12-11-1), Ella Kyle drove in four runs on three hits and scored twice in a 19-6 Magic rout. Tenley Figol, Ella Parrott and Hayley Fordyce had two RBI each, and Parrott and Maci Watters both scored three times.
The Magic struck for four runs in the top of the first to take an early lead, and put the game away by scoring six runs in both the third and fifth innings.
Emerson Anderson and Surie Small both threw two innings, combining to allow just five hits and three walks while striking out three.
In their second game, against the second-place Eastman Wildcats (15-9-0), the Magic put across three runs in the first and second innings and romped to a 13-1 victory. Watters drove in four runs on two hits and scored once and Figol and Parrott both drove in two runs.
Anderson and Small combined on a six-hitter with just one unearned run scoring.
Today, the first-place Magic (24-0-0) play the fourth-place Central Energy (11-13-0) at 11 a.m., and fifth-place Interlake Phillies (9-14-1) at 3 p.m.
The playoffs are on Sunday, with the top two teams representing Manitoba at the western Canadian championships from Aug. 6 to 9 in Balgonie, Sask.
