The Westman Magic came up one game shy of an under-13 western Canadian softball championship on Sunday in Balgonie, Sask.
Westman fell 15-4 to the Calgary Adrenaline in the final as the Magic managed just five hits against the tournament’s top team.
Westman reached the final through the 3-vs.-4 game, beating Prince Albert 10-8 with a complete-team effort, as Emerson Anderson and Surie Small each struck out four batters and everyone else in the lineup either recorded a hit or scored a run.
The Magic beat the White Butte Storm 11-5 in the semifinal, with Anderson striking out six batters in four scoreless innings. Ella Parrott scored two runs and drove in two more, while Small scored twice on a pair of hits.
At the U17 westerns in St. Albert, Alta., the Magic lost the semifinal 2-1 to Interlake to leave with a bronze medal.
Rose Cochrane had two hits and Jade Campbell recorded the other for Westman as Logan Tully pitched a gem.
Quinn Twordik allowed two runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings for the Magic.
