The Brandon Marlins fell 9-7 to the White Sox in the bronze-medal game at the 13-and-under Western Canadian Baseball Championship in Ile des Chênes on Sunday.
In their third game in a row against a British Columbia team, the White Sox scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning and four in the fourth inning for the win. Brandon’s Nixon Boguski had three doubles and a walk, drove home two runs and scored three times.
The Marlins opened with a 13-9 victory over the Swift Current 57’s and then topped Alberta’s YQL Sluggers 3-2 on Friday, but took it on the chin in their final round-robin game, a 10-0 drubbing by the Cloverdale Rangers on Saturday.
In the semifinals on Sunday morning, the Marlins fell 7-3 to the unbeaten Vancouver Mounties. The teams were tied 2-2 when Vancouver struck for three runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Cloverdale beat Vancouver in the final as all three medals went to teams from B.C.
