The Stratego Young Guns wrestled the title away with a 4-3 extra-inning win over the six-time defending champions at Kinsmen Stadium, claiming the six-points final series 7-3. Young Guns starter Tim O’Rourke outduelled John Houlihan for the win, going all eight innings and allowing five hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Westman Wolverines won the fourth quarter in a big way in their Manitoba Major Junior Football League game against the North Winnipeg Nomads. Lynden Middleton rushed for 138 yards on 19 carries, with dozens of additional yards negated by penalties.
