A handful of Brandonites were named Baseball Manitoba award winners on Tuesday.

Caitlan Nickel is the 19-and-under women’s player of the year, while Quinn Naturkach is the top 13U player.

The 11U AA Brandon Marlins earned the honour of grassroots team of the year.

In addition, Ernest Elder was selected for the Larry Nicholls umpire award of merit, while Brad Schoonbaert is one of three being named to the honour society, along with Greg Hercina of Dauphin and Gerry Janz of Baldur.

The awards banquet is on Oct. 17 at Brandon’s Clarion Inn and Suites.
