• 60 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Soccer Club seniors defeated Winnipeg Italia 2-1. All the scoring took place in the first half, with Howard Hoy and Red Hughes scoring for Brandon while Henry Bos counted Winnipeg’s lone tally.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Jack Hanlin, Lynn Cornish and Brian Peel captured championship honours in their respective divisions as 117 golfers took part in the two-day fall golf tournament at Miniota.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Curt Watson scored touchdowns on a run of six yards and a 35- yard pass reception to lead the MacGregor Mustangs to a 27-12 victory over the Killarney Raiders in Rural Manitoba Football League action.
• 20 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings rallied with six straight goals to secure a 6-5 come from behind victory over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Andrew Clark sparked the comeback with the Wheaties first goal of the game while Mark Derlago and Codey Burki eachs recorded a pair of goals. Rookie Juraj Simek was the fourth unique scorer in the contest.
