A quintet of Brandon Wheat Kings prospects will participate in the rebranded WHL Cup in Calgary later this month.

Forward Ridly Greig (first round, eighth overall) will suit up for Alberta; defenceman Vincent Iorio (second round, 27th overall) and forward Cameron MacDonald will represent British Columbia (fifth round, 96th overall); and forwards Nolan Ritchie (third round, 56th overall) of Brandon and Noah Wagner will don Manitoba jerseys at the event formerly known as the Western Canada Challenge Cup featuring players in the under-16 age division.

Wagner was the lone Brandon prospect not selected in this year’s bantam draft.

In addition to Ritchie, seven other Westmanites will represent Manitoba: Forwards Brody Wilson of Birtle, Landon Roberts and Tyson Kozak of Souris, and Brandon’s Ty Thorpe; as well as defencemen Daemon Hunt of Brandon, Forrest’s Reece Richmond and Cory King of Souris.

The event runs from Oct. 18 to 22.
