Calder Crossin and Mason Lobreau of the Brandon Wheat Kings closed 2021 on a high note.

Crossin was named the Manitoba U18 AAA Hockey League’s defenceman of the month of December on Monday, with Lobreau earning the top goaltending honour.

Crossin, 16, recorded two goals and seven assists in seven games, getting to 30 points on the season.

Lobreau went 4-1 between the pipes, with a 2.55 goals-against average and .910 save percentage. The 17-year-old’s only loss was a 4-3 shootout decision to Yellowhead.

Brandon leads the league with a 25-0-3 record, five points clear of the Winnipeg Wild.

The league returns to action tonight with Southwest visiting Yellowhead in Shoal Lake at 8 o’clock.
