The Swan Valley Stampeders kept their Turnbull Cup hopes alive on Monday night in Swan River as they defeated the Dauphin Kings 6-3 in Game 4 of their best-of-seven Manitoba Junior Hockey League quarterfinal series.

With the win, the Stampeders cut the Kings’ lead to 3-1 ahead of Friday’s Game 5, which will be held 7:30 p.m. at Credit Union Place in Dauphin.

Stampeders netminder Kobe Grant made 47 saves in the triumph, while Carter Cockburn led the way on offence with two goals and an assist.

Trey Sauder lit the lamp twice for the hosts, who received two-assist performances from defencemen Adam Rajsigl and Tyler Park.

Justin Keck and Cody Barnes also scored for Swan Valley.

Nakodan Greyeyes, Logan Calder and Jeriah Shantz replied for the Kings, with Carson Cherepak turning aside 32 shots.

MJHL playoff action resumes tonight as the Selkirk Steelers will pay a visit to the Steinbach Pistons and the Winkler Flyers will go on the road to take on the Winnipeg Blues.

The Pistons have a 3-1 lead in their quarterfinal matchup, while the Flyers hold a 3-2 advantage.
