Waskada’s Justin Lee will compete for a national championship tomorrow in Boston.
Lee and the Denver Pioneers advanced to the Frozen Four final with a dramatic 3-2 overtime victory over the Michigan Wolverines on Thursday afternoon.
Edmonton Oilers draft pick Carter Savoie — the older brother of Winnipeg Ice forward Matthew — scored the game winning goal at the 14:53 mark of the extra frame.
Lee, who is in his third season on the Pioneers’ blue-line and is an assistant captain for the program, picked up an assist on Brett Stapley’s goal in the first period.
Denver’s opponent in the NCAA’s men’s hockey title game, which will get underway at 7 p.m., will be the Minnesota State Mavericks.
They advance to the final with a 5-1 triumph over the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
