Connor Brust of the Neepawa Titans and Brett Mirwald of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines have been named the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s defenceman and goaltender of the month.
The 18-year-old Brust, who calls Forest Lake, Minn. home, recorded two goals and seven assists in eight games in January for the Titans.
He has 29 points in 37 games to sit fourth in team scoring.
Mirwald posted a 4-0 record last month with a 1.25 goals-against average and a .960 save percentage.
The 18-year-old Saskatoon product joined the Wolverines on Jan. 10 after spending the last two years with the Western Hockey League’s Moose Jaw Warriors.
Carter Cockburn of the Swan Valley Stampeders (player of the month), Mathieu Catellier of the Selkirk Steelers (rookie of the month) and Brayden Foreman of the Winnipeg Blues (peak performer of the month) also received recognition from the MJHL.
