The third time was the charm for the Dauphin Kings Sunday.
After losing two straight games to the Swan Valley Stampeders, the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s West Division champions officially clinched a spot in the semifinal round with a 3-2 double overtime triumph in Game 6 of their quarterfinal series.
Kaden Bryant was the hero for the Kings as he banged home a rebound at the 13:15 mark of the second extra frame.
Bryant also had a goal in the second period and had an assist on Nakodan Greyeyes’ third period marker.
Carson Cherepak made 40 saves for the Kings.
Justin Keck led the way for the Stampeders on offence as he scored a goal and had an assist on Trey Sauder’s tally.
Goaltender Kobe Grant was stellar once again as he turned aside 47 shots in a losing effort.
The Kings are now gearing up for a best-of-seven meeting with the Winkler Flyers. The dates for that series have yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, the other semifinal matchup between the Steinbach Pistons and the Virden Oil Capitals is slated to begin Friday night in Steinbach.
