A lopsided loss didn’t stop Brandon’s Inspire FC from advancing to the next round of the MSA Cup.
Inspire fell 7-0 to Lucania Soccer Club on Sunday in Winnipeg, but still finished second in their group to advance to the quarter-finals of the championship next month.
Saturday was a better day on the field for Inspire, which dumped AFC Russia 6-0 in a league game. James Dewdney and Johan Gamez each scored twice for Inspire, while Mickey Friesen and Vitaliy Bernatskyy added singles. Friesen spent most of the game in goal, where he recorded the clean sheet.
