Brandonite Shayne Wiebe has parted ways with the St. John’s IceCaps.

The former Brandon Wheat Kings captain has been released by the American Hockey League team and is reported to be heading to the University of New Brunswick.

Wiebe, a 21-year-old rookie, played 12 games with the IceCaps — the Winnipeg Jets’ top farm team — and produced four assists in 12 games.
