A seven-point weekend has earned Brandon Switzer of the Brandon Midget AAA Wheat Kings the nod as the Chicken Chef West Division player of the week in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

The 17-year-old veteran forward opened the season with four goals — including a game-winner — and three assists while posting an impressive +8 plus/minus rating to lead the Wheat Kings to 9-4 and 6-3 victories over the NorMan Northstars on Friday and Saturday in Thompson.
