The Southwest Cougars gave up a pair of goals in all three periods in their 6-3 loss to the host Kenora Thistles in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League on Friday night.

Meyer Nell scored twice for the Cougars (2-1-1), Daylon Creasy chipped in with a goal and an assist and Sheldon Kowalchuk had two helpers. Tyson Verhelst made 30 saves in net for Southwest, which faces Kenora again tonight.

Evan Mignault was the only player from the Thistles (1-2-0) to record more than one point with a goal and an assist.

Today, the Brandon Wheat Kings are at the Winnipeg Thrashers, while the Yellowhead Chiefs host Eastman in Shoal Lake at 7:30 p.m.
